Matt Boyd

Matt Boyd is the Lead Pastor of Sojourn Church in Portland, Oregon. With over a decade of experience in church planting, Matt moved his family to Portland in the summer of 2017 to start Sojourn. He and his wife Andrea met while Matt was doing summer missions in Argentina, and they married in 2007. Together, they have three boys and love calling Portland home. Matt is passionate about inviting others on a journey of learning what it means to follow Jesus.
Sojourn Church is a diverse community focused on three main pillars: gospel, family, and mission. They extend an invitation to everyone, regardless of race, gender, socio-economic status, or culture, to experience the freedom and family at the table of Jesus. Sojourn is dedicated to serving the inner east side of Portland, a distinct and densely populated area of the city.
Sojourn Church is strategically focused on the neighborhoods of east Portland, which make up 80% of the city's population, approximately 250,000 people. This area includes two campuses of Portland Community College, the largest educational institution in Oregon, with nearly 80,000 students enrolled annually, along with other smaller schools adding thousands more students to the area. East Portland is diverse but has been splintered in recent years by an ever-changing cityscape. Sojourn Church aims to reflect this diversity and welcomes everyone to join their community. The church's mission is to be a beacon of unity and hope, embodying the love of Jesus in a fractured urban environment.
