Week 3 | Day 1
THE SECOND PLAGUE: FROGS
Exodus 7:25-8:15
After a full week had passed following the first plague of blood, God again sent Moses to
Pharaoh with the same clear command: “Let My people go.” Again, Pharaoh refused, and God
sent a second plague—frogs. They poured out of the Nile and invaded every part of Egyptian
life: homes, bedrooms, kitchens, even the places where food is prepared. Overwhelmed, Pharaoh begged Moses to pray for relief and promised obedience. And God answered, the frogs died, and the land was left with piles of decay. But once the pressure was gone, Pharaoh hardened his heart again and broke his word. The story exposes a sobering pattern: relief without repentance leads right back to resistance.

Application
1. Never Confuse Crisis Prayers with a Surrendered Heart
It’s easy to cry out when life is uncomfortable; true faith remains when comfort returns.
2. God is Lord of Everyday Life, not Just the Sacred Moments
God can—and will—confront attitudes, habits, and spaces we assume are untouchable.
3. Partial Obedience is Still Disobedience
Bargaining with God reveals a desire for control, not trust—and God doesn’t play those games.
4. God’s Mercy is an Invitation, not a Loophole
When God relieves pressure, He’s giving space to repent, not permission to return to old
patterns.
5. Our Obedience Matters Beyond Ourselves
Pharaoh’s stubbornness affected an entire nation—our choices ripple into the lives of others.

Closing Prayer
Lord, help me understand that You do not negotiate, no matter how much I try to bargain. As a holy, holy, holy God, You desire my trust and obedience—not my conditions. Help me to believe that You are good, that Your love endures forever, and that Your way and Your will are always better than mine. In Jesus’ name, amen.
