CAUGHT

Exodus 2:11-25

Moses’ zeal for justice outran God’s wisdom. Believing no one saw, he killed an Egyptian; the next day his sin surfaced, and he fled to Midian. In obscurity he served, married Zipporah, and learned to shepherd. Back in Egypt a new Pharaoh kept Israel in chains—but heaven was not silent. God heard, remembered, saw, and knew His people and His covenant. Moses’ failure did not end God’s plan; it became the forge where God refined His man.

Application

1. Check Zeal with Wisdom

Passion for what is right must move by God’s ways and timing—or it harms more than it helps.

2. Deal with Sin in the Light

Hidden shortcuts don’t stay hidden; confession is safer than concealment.

3. Accept the Consequences and Pursue Grace

Consequences are real, but they are not the end; God’s mercy can write new chapters.

4. Embrace the Wilderness Classroom

Obscure places and ordinary work are holy preparation for God’s future calling.

5. Trust God’s Providence with Your Past

God wastes nothing—not failures, delays, or detours—He weaves them for His glory and our good.

6. Remember God’s Covenant Care

While God formed Moses, He was also stirring Israel. He is always at work in us and around us, even when we can’t see it.

7. Practice Ordinary Faithfulness Today—Never Put It Off

Who you are when the pressure is off forms who you’ll be when the pressure is on.

Closing Prayer

Lord, thank You that even when I blunder, You don’t abandon me. I confess where zeal has
outrun wisdom and where I’ve tried to hide what should be brought into the light. Forgive me, cleanse me, and teach me to walk in Your ways and timing. Use my “Midian” places to shape my character for Your purposes. As You work in and around me, remember Your promises and waste nothing. Make my ordinary faithfulness holy preparation for whatever You will do next. Amen.
