As part of our ongoing commitment to faithful stewardship and good governance, Peachtree City First Baptist Church has completed a comprehensive five-year review of our Constitution and Bylaws.
A special-purpose committee—made up of church leaders and staff—led this process, with guidance from legal counsel experienced in church law and governance.

Why This Update?
During the review, several areas were identified where our current bylaws (last updated in 2019) are not fully aligned with Georgia nonprofit law.

- Strengthen and clarify our governance structure
- Protect the autonomy of our local church
- Position our church for healthy leadership in the years ahead
Key Changes at a Glance
While the full list of updates is detailed, the most significant changes include:
- Governance Structure
A clearer, legally aligned model with shared leadership through a Ministry Leadership Board (MLB), serving as the church’s Board of Directors alongside the Senior Pastor.
- Ministry Advisory Council → Ministry Leadership Board
The former advisory council now functions as a governing board with defined responsibilities for legal, financial, and operational oversight.
- Membership & Voting
Clarified processes for membership, voting, and leadership accountability, consistent with legal requirements.
- Committees & Operations
A simplified committee structure, with many operational policies moved into a Church Operations Manual for greater flexibility.
- Legal & Structural Clarity
Strengthened language related to governance, indemnification, and ecclesiastical authority.
