Week 8 | Day 4
ALL CONFIDENCE IN GOD
Philippians 3:7-14
In Philippians 3:7–14, Paul describes a dramatic shift in perspective that occurred when he encountered Christ. Everything he once considered valuable—his religious status, achievements, and reputation—he now counted as loss compared to the surpassing worth of knowing Jesus. Paul realized that righteousness could never be earned through human effort; it comes only through faith in Christ. Because of this, his confidence was no longer placed in his past accomplishments but in the grace of God revealed in Jesus.
Paul’s focus then moves forward rather than backward. He acknowledged that he hadn’t yet reached perfection, but he continued pressing on to take hold of the purpose for which Christ took hold of him. Instead of dwelling on past successes or failures, Paul directed his energy toward pursuing Christ and the prize of God’s heavenly calling. His life illustrates that faith is never static—it’s a continual pursuit of deeper fellowship with Christ.

Application
Reevaluate What You Value Most
We would all be wise to recognize that knowing Christ surpasses every earthly achievement. True fulfillment comes from relationship with Him and not from any temporary achievement in this life.
Place Your Confidence Fully in Christ
Human accomplishments can’t secure righteousness as faith rests in what Christ has already accomplished in us, and eventually, through us.
Let Go of Past Accomplishments and Failures
We are not defined by what who we’ve been or what we’ve done in the past, but in who Jesus is and what He has accomplished on the cross that has led to transforming our lives. Thus, we must choose not to dwell on what is behind us, that we can’t undo, and focus forward on what is ahead regarding God’s calling on our lives.
Pursue Christ Intentionally
Pressing forward toward the calling of God must be our determination because growth in faith requires our ongoing relentless pursuit of God’s will and Word.
Keep Your Eyes on the Eternal Prize
God’s calling points toward eternal life with Christ which requires setting our focus on things above and fixing our eyes on Jesus. Living with this perspective shapes daily priorities.

Closing Prayer
Father, help me place all my confidence in Christ rather than in my own efforts. Teach me to value knowing Jesus above every earthly achievement. Give me the perseverance to press forward in faith and pursue the purpose You have for my life. May my heart remain focused on the eternal prize of Your calling. In Jesus’ name, amen.
