Week 4 | Day 5
CITIZENS OF CHRIST
Ephesians 2:19-22
In Ephesians 2:19–22, Paul declared a profound shift in identity: those who were once strangers and outsiders are now “fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.” Through Christ’s reconciling work, believers are no longer spiritual foreigners but full participants in God’s kingdom. Our citizenship is no longer defined by earthly boundaries but by belonging to God’s redeemed people. We’re welcomed into His family with shared rights, responsibilities, and relationship.
Paul deepens this image by describing believers as living stones being built into a holy temple. The foundation is laid by the apostles and prophets, with Christ Himself as the cornerstone. Together, we’re being joined into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit. Salvation not only gives us a new status but places us into a shared spiritual structure where God’s presence resides.

Application
Live from Your New Citizenship
Our ultimate identity is anchored in God’s kingdom and in Christ in us living through us. We need to let who He is and what He has accomplished on the cross shape our priorities and values.
Embrace Your Place in God’s Household
Belonging replaces isolation. We are now a part of something much greater than ourselves. Community is reflected in shared grace.
Build Your Life on Christ the Cornerstone
Alignment with Jesus brings stability to every aspect of our lives. When we align under Him, He provides direction, security, and purpose to our lives, but should we drift from Him, it brings disorder.
Value Unity in the Body
Each believer is part of the structure. We are privy to a living entity who cares and encourages one another by spurring each other towards God’s love and missional service. Growth happens together.
Welcome God’s Presence Daily
We are part of His dwelling. As we abide the Holy Spirit in us lives through us calling us to live with reverence and joy—being steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.

Closing Prayer
Father, thank You for making me a citizen of heaven and a member of Your household. Help me build my life on Christ and live in unity with Your people. Shape me into a faithful part of Your dwelling place. May Your presence guide my daily walk. In Jesus’ name, amen.
