CALLED BY GOD
Galatians 1:11-24
In Galatians 1:11–24, Paul defended the divine origin of the gospel by recounting his own dramatic conversion. The message he preached wasn’t something he received from men, nor was he taught it in a human classroom—it came through a revelation of God. Recalling that he was once a fierce persecutor of the church, advancing in Judaism beyond many of his contemporaries, Paul was sovereignly interrupted by grace on the road to Damascus in Acts 9. There, God was pleased to reveal the truth of Jesus to him beginning a complete transformation of his life not through self-reform but through holy pursuit and Holy Spirit revelation and calling.
Paul’s testimony underscores that the gospel is God’s initiative from beginning to end. After his conversion, he didn’t immediately seek validation from the apostles in Jerusalem; instead, he spent time in Arabia and later returned to Damascus, emphasizing that his commission came from Christ Himself. Years later, when he was finally known by reputation among the churches in Judea, their response was profound: “They glorified God because of me.” True conversion results in visible transformation, and genuine ministry ultimately directs glory back to God. Grace not only forgives sin—it redirects ambition, reshapes identity, and rewrites purpose.

Application
Trust the Divine Origin of the Gospel
Our faith doesn’t rest on human philosophy, self-ambition, or personal effort but on revelation from Jesus Christ. What God reveals, He sustains and defends through the work of the Holy Spirit.
Never Underestimate the Transforming Power of Grace
Paul went from persecutor to preacher because God’s grace intervened. Thankfully, no past is too hostile, and no heart too hardened for God to redeem.
Recognize God’s Sovereign Purpose in Your Life
Paul was set apart before he was aware of it. God’s calling often precedes our understanding, but it unfolds in His perfect timing. God wishes no one to perish and all to come to repentance to find His grace and purpose.
Allow Time for Deep Formation
Paul’s season in Arabia reminds us that hidden years with God prepare us for public usefulness. Private communion with Christ strengthens public witness. While we're called to testify, we’re also called to be prepared.
Aim for a Life that Influences Others to Glorify God

Closing Prayer
Father, thank You that the gospel is Your revelation and not man’s invention. Thank You for grace that interrupts, transforms, and calls me according to Your purpose. Shape my life so deeply that others see Your work and glorify You. Keep me rooted in Christ, dependent on Your Spirit, and faithful to the calling You have placed upon me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
