NO OTHER GOSPEL
Galatians 1:6-10
Paul moves swiftly from greeting to grief. He is astonished that the Galatians are so quickly deserting the One who called them by the grace of Christ for a different gospel—which, he clarifies, is really no gospel at all. It was an attempted mixture of grace plus human effort. This issue isn’t just a minor doctrinal nuance; it’s a tragic distortion of grace still present today. False teachers were adding human works to Christ’s finished work, unsettling believers and perverting the true message of salvation. The language Paul used is strong because the stakes are eternal—to tamper with the gospel is to tamper with souls.
Twice Paul pronounced a solemn warning—if anyone preaches a gospel contrary to the one already received, let him be accursed. This isn’t harshness; it is holy protection. The gospel isn’t ours to edit, soften, or adapt for cultural approval. In verse 10, Paul then exposed the heart issue beneath doctrinal compromise—the fear of man. We can’t be a servant of Christ and a seeker of the applause of others at the same time. The purity of the gospel and the loyalty of the servant are inseparably connected.

The Galatians were troubled because they didn’t immediately test what they heard. Truth doesn’t evolve with culture; it remains anchored in God’s revealed Word.
Recognize that Sincerity doesn’t Equal Truth
A messenger may sound persuasive and spiritual yet still distort the gospel. Spiritual discernment requires both humility and biblical grounding.
Refuse to Live for Human Approval
The desire to please people can quietly reshape what we believe and proclaim. Faithfulness to Christ sometimes means disappointing and moving away others to remain true the God—in the world but not of the world.
Treasure the Gospel as Sacred Trust
The gospel isn’t a personal opinion but a divine revelation. We each must study it faithfully, guard its truth vigilantly, proclaim it with clarity, and refuse to dilute it.

Closing Prayer
Lord, guard my heart from drifting from the simplicity and purity of the gospel. Give me discernment to recognize error and courage to stand in truth, even when it is unpopular. Deliver me from the fear of other people and anchor me in the grace of Christ alone. May I be Your servant above all else. In Jesus’ name, amen.
