Week 7 | Day 5
Promise over Pedigree
Romans 9:6-13
God’s Word hasn’t failed—and neither has His plan for rescuing the lost. Paul reminds us that “not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel” — this is because the true children of Abraham are those who come by faith meaning that salvation has always been and always will be for anyone who would believe and receive Jesus as God’s solution to the problem of sin. At the same time, God chose the line of Isaac and Jacob to bring the Savior—showing how salvation would come, not pre-selecting who would be saved, but choosing the way of salvation. As such, belonging to God rests on His sovereign promise and call, not ancestry or effort—fueling our humility, assurance, surrender, and worship.
Application
1. Rest in Grace, not in Your Résumé
Your standing with God is anchored in His promise fulfilled in Christ, not in your pedigree, performance, or past.
2. Come by Faith Alone
Abraham believed God, and so must everyone else if they want to come to God. Our faith must be in Christ—not in our lineage, labels, or law-keeping—for righteousness comes by faith alone.
3. Worship with Wonder
From Abraham to Isaac to Jacob to Jesus, God’s plan threads through history so that people from every nation can be brought near.
4. Reach Everyone
Since salvation is by faith for Jew and Gentile alike, we share Christ freely—with prayerful love for Israel and the nations… “for God so loved the world…”

Closing Prayer
Lord, thank You for a salvation plan that runs like a scarlet thread from the Fall to the Cross and into my life. I rest not in who I am or what I’ve done, but in Your promise fulfilled in Jesus. Grow humility in me, deepen my assurance, and kindle worship. Use me to help others see, savor, and receive Your grace—Jew and Gentile alike. Amen.
